Ned and Doralene Webb … Corbin, Laurel County

The Webbs built this treehouse in their tree-lined back yard in about 2002, when their 5-year-old grandson asked Papaw for one. Ned designed and built the treehouse single-handedly over the course of about three years, and now five grandchildren — Todd, Evan, Sarah, Emily and Avery — all enjoy it. Their friend Anne Hoskins, who brought it to our attention, says “You could almost live in it.” This is an ideal kids’ hangout, with a TV downstairs, and a sleeping loft upstairs. The covered patio below is a perfect shelter for family cookouts.
